Gayle Stephens, LMT is a Chicago-based massage therapist and somatic coach with 25 years of experience helping clients heal, restore, and reconnect with themselves. Licensed and certified through AMTA, ABMP, and NCBTMB, Gayle brings a rare depth of training to her practice — one shaped by an athletic life as a cyclist, marathoner, martial artist, and yoga and Pilates practitioner, as well as extensive study in Tibetan Buddhist meditation and healing traditions. When she's not with clients, you'll find her exploring Chicago by bike or on foot, soaking in the city she loves with her husband and teenage son. This grounded, active way of living is at the heart of everything she brings to her work — an instinctive understanding of how the body holds tension, stress, and pain, and how it can be guided to release it.

Gayle's practice spans a wide range — Thai massage, structural integration, reflexology, pregnancy massage, lymph drainage, trigger point therapy, and cranial sacral therapy — but her somatic coaching reaches into territory that bodywork alone cannot always access. Somatics works beneath the surface, targeting the ways stress and trauma become embedded in the nervous system over time. Rather than overriding the body's signals, Gayle creates the conditions for genuine, lasting change — using gentle movement, breathwork, and guided attention to sensation to help clients come back into relationship with themselves. Her deep study of Tibetan Buddhist healing traditions brings an uncommon stillness to this process, one that makes space for the body's own intelligence to lead the way.

For 25 years, Gayle has helped clients untangle pain, release stored stress, and return to themselves — through expert bodywork and the transformative power of somatic healing.

Gayle has built a practice where clients feel truly seen — not just treated.

Gayle has built a practice where clients feel truly seen — not just treated. Whether she's working with an athlete managing the wear of training, a healthcare professional in need of real restoration, or someone whose body has been quietly carrying more than it should, she meets each person with the same steady presence and care. Clients regularly share that after time with Gayle, they move with greater ease, carry a brighter outlook, and feel a deeper sense of compassion toward themselves. It's the kind of shift that's hard to put into words — and one that tends to stay with you long after you leave.

  • "Gayle is truly an intuitive healer. She uses her heart, hands, and mind to listen and respond with insight and care. After our sessions, I felt lighter and looser- like layers of stored trauma had been released."

  • "The deep feelings of safety and caring that permeate Gayle’s space and being are my favorite things about her work. She’s created a space and has a manner that allows me to truly relax, set my burden down, stop the noise of the world outside, and allow my psyche/body to receive the nurturing gift of touch."

  • “I deeply trust Gayle's capacity for healing. Each experience is different and yet each time I leave more present, relaxed, and at home in my body.”
